UGH! Lesson 11

I cannot begin to say how painful this particular exercise was!!  UGH! UGH! UGH!  Yes, I love the colors, NO, I HATE THE DESIGN!  We were suppose to use our names to create places to color ... wish I hadn't!  NOT MY THING!  Won't do another one I promise!  BUT, now I have had a chance to practice with the colors so I will use THAT and forget the rest!  UGH!

Please don't pin this one!

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't what was taught, it was my interpretation of what she said... UGH!  Stay tuned, I'll do one I'm happy with soon.

Thank you Joanne for forcing me to do something I wouldn't do otherwise...though it was completely PAINFUL!

THE SECRET:
I can say this, because Joanne hasn't (yet anyway).  The secret is THE PAPER! You have got to use watercolor paper to pull off the magic...and I'm thinking the heavier the better (not sure of that one, just thinking)... I used 3 or 4 different color mediums here so it isn't in those, color - yes, magic - no.  Its the paper.

Lesson 8

Psalm 91:14

My Peace

Psalm 91...as much as I could fit on the piece of paper!
(more grid practice from lesson 5)

Psalm 91...is probably one of my favorite chapters in the Bible... shown another way:
(I did this in a different blog last year)

 1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
   will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
   my God, in whom I trust.”
 3 Surely he will save you
   from the fowler’s snare
   and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
   and under his wings you will find refuge;
   his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
   nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
   nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side,
   ten thousand at your right hand,
   but it will not come near you.

8 You will only observe with your eyes
   and see the punishment of the wicked.
 9 If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,”
   and you make the Most High your dwelling,

10 no harm will overtake you,
   no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
   to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
   so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
   you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
 14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
   I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
   I will be with him in trouble,
   I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
   and show him my salvation.”

Trust is My Word

.
In all of my bouncing around the web I have noticed that there are folks that choose a word for each year.  A word that they are going to focus on... so, this is my word for 2012.

I know its my word because it keeps repeating over and over in my spirit.  I have trust God.  I have no trouble "Believing" God (my word for 2011) because I KNOW He can do ANYTHING....but this year He is working on my trust.  Trusting Him even when things don't happen as quickly or according to "man's schedule" (mine, and/or people wanting something from me by a certain time!)  I am getting to practice waiting and not know when God will step in to save the day.  I have to TRUST Him to be my shepherd, to lead me beside the still waters and green pastures, to be my provider.
Psalm 23.

And so it begins.

.

Here are a few pictures of things I've done for Joanne Sharpe's Lettering class.  One thing I really like is that she is not showing us how to do any of the letters, she wants us to use our own handwriting.... No, I don't normally write like this, but you know what I mean, she REALLY jumps right past the "how to dos" to get to the "What to do for homework".  I feel kinda bad for the girls who wanted to learn HOW TO do her letters, because that just isn't happening.  But, there are still 24 more lessons so maybe.

The journal is a regular $1 composition book that I covered with cardstock...sewed it down with my sewing machine, mainly to see if I could.  There are 4 layers of cardstock plus the cardboard book....sewing machine did fine.

Lesson 1 - cover composition book

20 ways to write the word "ART"?

Writing in a "Grid"
add any words to another grid

She wanted us to add color to the bottom two, but I'm resisting...I like them like this....for a while anyway.

Dangerous Promises

This post is a little different... at least until I can get something drawn up.

About 15 years ago I took Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace course.  HIGHLY RECOMMEND!  Unfortunately it didn't do much good but there are times when something he says flashes back into memory. One is NEVER EVER charge!  That one took a while but I did get rid of all the credit cards...because those people are EVIL!

This just popped into my memory so I want to do something with it.

Another major NO- NO is cosigning for ANYONE... DO NOT DO IT!  He mentioned that we so quickly read over scripture not really comprehending what it is actually saying...  He had done that with Proverbs 6:5 until he saw some nature show of a gazelle trying to escape the hunter.  He noticed that you don't just take that mildly, but you get the heck out of dodge!  Get as far away from it as possible, or it will kill you!

Here is the scripture in context and then a video of a gazelle.  VERY COOL visual!

Proverbs 6

My son, if you become surety for your friend,
If you have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger,
You are snared by the words of your mouth;
You are taken by the words of your mouth.
So do this, my son, and deliver yourself;
For you have come into the hand of your friend:
Go and humble yourself;
Plead with your friend.
Give no sleep to your eyes,
Nor slumber to your eyelids.
Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter,
And like a bird from the hand of the fowler.[a]
