Precious In His Sight

and just pencil, before ink and color, funny how color changes it!...she's looking in a different direction!

I was looking at a GORGEOUS little girl's picture on the internet.... so that big clump of loops on the left side of her head are peddles of some kind of silk flowers...you couldn't make out an actual flower, just big loopy looking peddles.  I didn't want to color them so its hard to know what they are here.

OH! and no, it doesn't look like her, I wish.

What I Did:
  1. Drew it with pencil
  2. Scanned and Printed
  3. Colored the printed version. I used markers to color the lips and eyes, and a sharpie for some of the drawn lines.
  4. Scanned the colored version
  5. Opened the colored version in PSE and used the eye dropper to get the color of the lips and eyes to make a background.
  6. I used my favorite "watercolor" brush and just "splatted" it with two of the colors.
  7. Added text

Done.

Mark 11:22,24

OK!  I will not tell a lie, this is NOT the scripture for today, but it IS MY scripture for today!  I find myself it need of a MAJOR FAITH OVERHAUL so I have been sitting here for the last 6 days listening to the 2011 Believer's Convention...over and over, until I GOT IT! WHOOHOO!!!  It basically comes down to this.... You either BELIEVE GOD or you don't!  I DO!This is the first drawing I've done since last Thursday and I haven't watched any other "tv" since (I don't want to pollute what I have gained!)This is one of the scriptures they stayed on and it is just so good that I decided to do something with it.

I wasn't going to comment on the "design" but now that I see it here, I'm really liking the look of it!  Sure, as always I wish I had done some things differently but that happens when you just start drawing without a plan!  Example, the very first word I wrote was "WHATEVER" and now I wish it would have been bigger and used some of the space above it.  That was less obvious before I started drawing all those little circles!Speaking of little circles... aren't they kinda cool looking?  It almost looks like a pebble background that I put the other on top of... but it isn't, just a BUNCH of little circles.  If you look closer though you can see that I used a grayish marker on the left side of the large circles and then I used the same marker to go around all the words...giving it a 3-D look. ... which is always my goal.  I like to give the illusion.Anyway, that's all.

1 John 5:12

Doesn't Look Like An Art Journal to Me....

One of the reasons I decided to start "journalling" the Daily Bible Verse was to make an art journal.... But to be honest, It really isn't (yet) it is just a bunch of drawings...and digital files, so, I decided tonight that I need to do something about that.

The idea I had was to print what I had drawn, and somehow put it with the surrounding verses because I don't love quoting a verse out of context... THE CONTEXT MATTERS!

So, I just did a little test and even that isn't working exactly as visioned because the context takes a lot of space!... I was hoping to have more room for doodle play but that may not be possible.  That's OK, I still like  the look of this.... I'll just have my own unique "art journal".  :-)

Philippians 1:21

Again, this is one that I needed more than just the one scripture.  I have heard this verse my whole life but it is kinda hard to understand without the words that go around them.
Paul has been arrested and it reads like he isn't sure if he will live or die while there.  He is saying here that he really would rather die, and be with the Lord, but if he had to stay he would continue to work 100% FOR the Lord.
I actually started crying when I read this because I spend a LOT of time praying for the Rapture, or to be taken, because I am READY to go...this place really isn't a lot of fun!  And I feel guilty for feeling that way.  This helps to push that guilt off.  And, as I'm typing I'm listening to Kenneth Copeland and he said the exact same thing!  He is ready, doesn't like being here, but he will continue to work for the Lord until its time to go home.  No more guilt!

Paul’s Chains Advance the Gospel

12 Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters,[b] that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. 13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. 14 And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear......   Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, 19 for I know that through your prayers and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.  20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me.

2 Corinthians 10:17-18

.
But, “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.

I decided to do things a little differently today....

First I started with this: a drawing I did waiting for a day I would need, or want to use it.... What I usually do is draw something in pencil then scan that to color it, so I always have the uncolored original (I explained that in a past post)  I would normally print this out and go from here....

But today I decided to take an existing True Type Font, CK Paris and paste the text inside the opening like this:

But, you'll notice that everything is very straight and not at all "hand drawn" looking, at least not like anything I would do, which usually isn't straight at all... soooooo, I changed it to this: ..

I broke all the text apart and worked one letter at time, stretching, pulling and moving nodes..sometimes one at a time....now a lot of the same letters are different, not all, no point in totally reinventing the wheel!

When I finished all that work I finally printed it out as shown above and began work coloring it in. The first thing I did was go over every letter with a sharpie, filling in the white spaces and thickening the lines so that it looked even more natural ....I added some pattern to some of the squiggles, then colored everything.

I then re-scanned it and added the black and white boarder.

To be honest with you I think I would have been just as content with  the black and white version, because you know, I am partial to black and white!

And the good news is, because I did it the way I did, I can have it either way!

It was a fun experiment but I could have actually hand drawn each letter MUCH quicker!  I don't expect I'll be doing it again.  I will say though, the advantage to it is that I was able to space everything out so that there was room at the end!  I did one last night (a different scripture, not colored yet) 100% by hand and I ran out of room for the last word!!!  I had to erase the whole bottom line and re-do it!!  And yes, I quick sketched it but I never follow those lines ... and this time I paid the price!

2 Corinthians 7:1

Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

Not sure if you can read the words on the "land"
Sexual Immorality
Judging
Murder
Pride
Cheating
Lying
Excess
Idol Worship....
just to list a few....

I wanted all the washer thingies hanging over head to have scripture but it was already REALLY busy and you couldn't have read it anyway so just imagine that the Bible on top is doing the "washing".

Romans 14: 8

8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

OK, I can not tell a lie, this one stumped me!  Today's scripture was just the one verse, but I didn't understand it on its own so I read the whole chapter and that really didn't help!  I actually understood the surrounding verses much better and pretty much showed that in the drawing.  We are each on different levels of faith...one person believes one thing while another doesn't... God will judge us each on the level of faith we have...but it isn't our job to do the judging!... That's basically what the whole chapter is about, but verse 8 which is right in the middle still confuses me... Hummmm...????  Gotta pray longer on this one!

I created it using both the PC and by hand.  I drew the cross and FAITH, scanned that and printed, then colored faith and brought it back and scanned that.  I wish I would have colored the cross but I didn't so I decided to do it on the PC... and also did all the text and borders with the PC.

Ephesians 2:10

We were created to do good works!  I drew it like the road of God's plan for us... with walls and doors.... Of course the distance is really too far to see the wall and door ahead.  Most people think they will continue doing the same thing until they die... But then they hit a wall or a "suddenly" that changes life as we then know it.  It can be a retirement buyout offer that no one would ever expect, or a loved one dying, or a fire that destroys everything.  Whatever... Something will happen to give us a new opportunity to "do good works" in another place...one that was prepared JUST FOR US!

Psalm 46:1

.

Psalm 46
For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth.   A song.
1 God is our refuge and strength,
   an ever-present help in trouble.

I decided to put the words over sheet music because it is a song....was then, is now.

Luke 12:6-7

.

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

I LOVE any verse that compares us to birds!!!  I KNOW he watches over them and takes care of them all...I just really like the reminder!

I was actually up after midnight so I was able to go to Biblegateway and see today's scripture.  I was so excited about it that I had it drawn before I went to sleep.  I LOVE this scripture!

It seems I really need to learn to do hands because I use them A LOT... I noticed one day that in the old testament almost all mention of God doing something it was say something like "by God's hand"...  Lots of mention of God's hand in the Bible!

Psalm 119:130

130 The unfolding of your words gives light;    it gives understanding to the simple.

This one about stumped me... see how late in the day I'm putting it?!  And I got up in the middle of the night just so I could start thinking about it!  How the heck do you show a "simple" person???!  After struggling over that all day I decided I would show someone at a desk studying the word...So I Googled "Bible Study" hoping to find someone sitting at a desk studying the Word.... Nope!  But, I did find pictures of open Bibles and the thought suddenly occurred to I should take a picture of my own Bible .... (I loooove my Bible! and there are no copyright problems there) ...  and some of the notes I take while studying the Word.

As I was taking the picture I realized "I" am the PERFECT model for "simple"!  No Bible college here... just me studying the Word and getting bits of ... "OUCH!" or, "Wish I had known this sooner!" "suddenlies".  Him opening my eyes to something new every time I study.

Jeremiah 33: 2-3

“This is what the LORD says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it—the LORD is his name: ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’”Jeremiah 33:2-3 NIV

I knew that there would probably come a day when the words  couldn't, wouldn't, shouldn't be a "picture" so I had this ready and waiting...I just left it "blank" waiting for the words.  Today I scanned the "blank" and used the computer for the text....WAY MORE control that way!  I'll probably go back later and hand write it, and add color to the flower, it needs something ... just not today.

Story about this scripture.... Today when I read it, I had to go outside and move the trash to the road.... while doing it I kept repeating  verse 3... "Call to me and I will answer" "Call to me and I will answer"  As I was coming back in I noticed a dead tree in the back yard that could fall any day.  Then the question came to my mind... Hummm?  I wonder if it will make a sound if no one is around when it falls... .you know that question.  As soon as I "wondered" that, the answer came to me... no!  It will make sound waves, but if there is no "receiver" to "receive" it there will be nothing, just sound waves... like radio sound waves have to have a receiver, a radio ... this is the same thing!

That brought to mind the question I have always wondered...if Satan can talk to our thoughts can he also hear them?  That is definitely one of those questions that I can't "search" for the answer.... I believe I got my answer!!!  Not telling, ask Him yourself, then let's compare answers.   :-)

1 Samuel 16:7

“But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.””

This is probably one of my favorite verses!  What's not to love?  Right?  I first "found" it at the exact time I was NOT chosen for a job while a truly gorgeous, younger girl was.  God is so good that way, this verse was one of the many confirmations about God's desires for me.  They ended up firing the girl...reasons unknown.

There really isn't anything to explain about this pictures...I was just really excited that I was able to make the one heart look like a cactus! ... Before I tried, I didn't think I could do it.  Hummmm, that'll preach!  You don't know what you can do until you actually DO IT!  This whole exercise has been proof of that!

Later in the day:
OK, so you knew I couldn't leave well enough alone right?  When I uploaded the original I noticed that you could barely see it, so I did what I was trying to avoid...color and outline.  I had a feeling that doing that would change the look, because it usually does... I felt like the guy on the left was fairly good looking, and sure enough, now he's not so pretty....argh.... but, you get the point.

I also added Samuel because there was too much white space... I did him on another piece of paper then cut and pasted him onto the colored version. ...oh, and just so you know, David, the small guy really isn't that PINK, that would be scanner and user issues as usual!

James 1: 22

James 1:22

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

I started with this pencil drawing:

Added the background and title
Printed it then colored the copy to get this:

Here are the folks that thought they were safe...they went to church, they may have even worked at the church, they went to conferences and listened to all the tapes.... BUT!  they never did anything with what they heard, they ignored all the warnings to "REPENT" and stop sinning... because, after all, "Everyone does it...He wouldn't 'send' EVERYONE to Hell?!!... and I do go to church after all!"

Sorry folks, the Bible tells us what "saved" looks like...and purposeful sinning isn't it!  You'll know you are saved when you have made Jesus YOUR LORD,  .... that means YOU DON'T WANT TO SIN! ... you don't look for excuses to sin anyway!
You REPENT for past sins and diligently seek after  a righteous, holy life.

Definitions:

lord

noun
person who has authority, control, or power over others; a master, chief, or ruler.

re·pent

verb (used without object)
1.
to feel sorry, self-reproachful, or contrite for past conduct; regret or beconscience-stricken about a past action, attitude, etc. (often followedby of ): He repented after his thoughtless act.
2.
to feel such sorrow for sin or fault as to be disposed to change one'slife for the better; be penitent.

ANYWAY.... About the picture!

These people are standing at the back gate of Heaven unable to enter in... the shadows of people to the top left are folks going to the front gates where Saint Peter is waiting there to greet them.... You'll notice there is a ceiling to the kingdom... but that's only in this back area... go through this back room and enter into the Heaven we all expect ... with streets of gold and GOD and Jesus  sitting on their thrones ready to welcome all that come in!  WHOOHOO!!!

I decided that it needed bushes after the fact so I added some of that stuff they use for bushes on miniature railroad sets.... so it is actually 3-D.  I may print it out again and put multiple layers of the people so they stand out away from the picture....  FUN! Gotta love that :-)

Psalm 119:114

“You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.” Psalm 119:114 NIV

I had a couple of  ideas today... but I decided rather that show it "literally" I would show it as the prayer of worship it is, recognizing and thanking God for His protection and hope.
