Yes, that is a MAJOR pet peeve of mine and it is getting to be the time of year when I am seeing it again.... so, time for Lady Lizbeth to have some attitude again!
And its time to pull one of my favorite songs out...
Don't want to rain on Lady Lizbeth's parade but, the x was/is for the Greek letter Chi which is part of a word I will NOT try to type or pronounce that translates into Christ. Think of the Chi Rho, another symbol of Christ. I prefer Christmas too, but Xmas means the same. For what it is worth, Franklin Graham agrees with Lady Lizbeth.
Thanks so much for the info.... but I'm guessing that you are in a very small minority of folks that would know that, and would use the x because of that knowledge. I actually used the "x" myself growing up as a "shorthand" but the world has changed A LOT over the last 30-40 years and I get a little crazy over the blatant disrespect shown to my God and my Lord and Savior's names....I doubt there's a day goes by when I don't hear one or the other used as a cuss word, or used in vain some other way ... and I have been watching "my" Christmas disappear for years now so today I decided to speak up, in a very small way.
Glad to know Franklin and Lady Liz agree! :-) I have an enormous amount of respect for his dad and the whole BG association. I have worked as a rapid responder a couple of times and I appreciate their HIGH level of INTEGRITY...they are an A+ organization!
Again, thanks for taking the time to educate.... but, I would still rather see His name spelled out.
