Matthew 14:
15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”
16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”
17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.
18 “Bring them here to me,” he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Later:
I just came back and read the scripture again and started meditating on it. Notice, the multiplication happened when each person "GAVE".
- First the little boy "GAVE" the fish and bread
- Then Jesus blessed it and he "GAVE" it to the disciples.
- Then the disciples "GAVE" to the people.
- and each person took a share then "GAVE" it to the next person!
The multiplication happened at the "giving" stages! The multiplication would have stopped at the point that the "giving" stopped. Gotta give it away to get the multiplication!

i like your interpretation of the "giving" and i think it's right on target. haven't you found this to be true in your personal life as well? i know i have.
ReplyDeletei like this verse-a-day challenge idea. i'm brand new to this art idea - thank you, pinterest :) - i think i'd like to give it a try. i'm trying to figure out now how to get hooked up to the email that sends out the verses. thanks!
i love your blog!
Hi Alice!
ReplyDeleteWELCOME! and welcome to the challenge! I have to admit, the "Verse-a-day" idea, using Biblegateway got kinda hard. Mainly because they tend to go several days with the same theme each day and I was having a hard time coming up with different visuals with the same idea...so, now I will use their verse if I haven't done anything for it yet, or another idea comes....but, if not, I try to do a different verse altogether. The important part is to do something and thinking about what a verse means and what that looks like. I am SO VISUAL I like to have a picture!
It all started with the book of James...now THAT was so much fun! EVERY VERSE has a visual! I didn't know that when I started but was thrilled as I went along. I'm actually thinking about doing it again, now that I know a little more of what I would do differently.
OH! And I'm SO GLAD you like the blog! I was "out here" all alone for a very long while! I actually have several other blogs but this one gets the most of my attention now because I LOVE drawing everyday! This is actually an offshoot of www.nancybabb-classes.blogspot.com . That one is more about sudden ideas and ways I came up with to do things...I really tried to not mention Jesus and the Bible very much on it but you can probably tell here that that is EXTREMELY hard for me! I have to have a way to say what is in every fiber of my being! So, I have this blog as an offshoot of the other...that way, people can come if they want to, or not... This one is for ME and I love sharing it with anyone willing to accept my expressions of love to my Lord and Savior. :-) I will say though, ALL BETS ARE OFF during Christmas and Easter on that other blog! JESUS WILL COME OUT THEN! :-)
Thanks Nancy for another scriptural drawing that really teaches a lesson...sometimes we forget that the more we give, the more comes back to us. Beautiful...

ReplyDeleteHey Texana! Great to "see" you!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
You are right about forgetting ... There were actually two lessons in that one picture...and I didn't know it until later last night. Really, when I first did it the thing that was in my mind was that giving Him our talents and abilities (like me drawing) HE will magnify them and make up the difference and they will touch people in ways that we could never do alone. WOW! Now I can really see that I should have actually said that somewhere. :-) It really isn't all that clear! I did a devotional a couple years ago where I actually SAID those words so it made sense. WHOOPS!
ANYWAY, I drew that yesterday because I have experienced Him taking my "nothing" and making it "something" a couple of times this week and it has blown my mind. One time I posted a picture that I just did as an assignment for Joanne's class. Within 10 minutes of putting it on my blog it had been pinned and "re-pinned" 21 times and liked 12! IN TEN MINUTES! The most amazing part of that was 7 of them were MEN! HUH?! I don't know, I think the Lord does something with other people's eyes! Seriously.
The second thing was something I made on my other blog in AUGUST! Someone pinned it Sunday night and within one hour it had been pinned 78 times and liked 31 times!!! ... from one pin! WHAT?!
Now, what that actually means...I have no clue! I get nothing for it, I don't make money when folks come to my site...BUT, BUT, they will see Jesus when they come here. and THAT is an awesome thing! Seriously, I feel almost embarrassed at some of my drawings, especially when I compare them to other people's, but I keep doing it anyway ... giving Him my "all" and letting Him do what He will with it....for the kingdom. This whole blog is about that.... not by my own design, but His. That is an amazing thing to me.
ANYWAY! ANYWAY! I get so carried away on these comments, sorry.
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY AND LETTING ME KNOW YOU DID!
